Ways to Engage in January

The Way of Jesus

There’s a movie most of us have heard of called “The Wizard of Oz”. No doubt the climax is captured in the line when Dorothy (the lead) longingly says, “There’s no place like home”. As beautiful as this theme is, few would say that the only thing that the movie is about is Dorothy wanting to go home. Sometimes the way of arriving at the climax of the story is crucial to a deeper understanding of what broken truth is being re:assembled.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)

We Jesus followers know the cross and life again story. We believe that it is central. But what if a sincere over-focus on the truth of Jesus’ 3-day ordeal has caused us to miss the Way of getting there. Jesus calls himself the roadway, and the truth between two ditches that lead to life; and life abundantly.

Join us in re:assembling how Jesus lived before he died, not as a needless prequel to the main event, but the embodiment of the story lived out in human terms. What might the Way of Jesus have to say about how following him fleshes out deeper truths and richer lives?
